First food/recipe post! A new work week is about to kick off, so of course I’m already thinking about Monday’s cup of coffee. If you don’t know, you’ll soon learn, coffee is an essential part of life for me. I worked for Starbucks in college and I still experiment with different ways of brewing and preparing a good cup of coffee. And the way I order it or make it at home is never set in stone. Some people only drink black coffee, some like creamer with a splash of coffee. I am not here to judge because some days I like it just the way it is, other days I want flavored syrup, other days I cream in it. I just don’t like getting predictable I guess. One thing is for sure, 95% of the time, my coffee is cold. I know that is controversial, but I’d rather have iced coffee than hot coffee. Feel free to weigh in on your coffee tastes below, but I’m gonna get to what’s so special about this cup of iced coffee.
It looks like a normal cup of iced coffee, but it’s hiding a secret: there is LEMONADE in there! Now before you dismiss it, hear me out. I like to follow different coffee shops and brands, and I’ve noticed some of them have jumped into the world of coffee lemonade. It makes sense when you think about the type of beans used for many iced coffees. They have a bright, citrusy punch that makes them perfect over ice. So it would make sense that adding something like lemonade would complement the flavor.
The other day I was looking to get out of my iced coffee routine, and I noticed we had some lemonade in the fridge. It was time to experiment. Thankfully I pretty much nailed it on the first try (because wasting coffee is a no-no). It was delicious, smooth, and just what I needed to start the day. You taste both lemon and coffee, but neither fight for attention! If you’re ready to try it, here’s the recipe:
10oz. Iced Coffee (or Cold Brew prepared to your liking)
3oz. lemonade (homemade or store bought)
1 tsp. simple syrup (adds sweetness and balances the flavors)
Mix together and add ice. That’s it! Now it’s your turn. What is your favorite way to drink coffee?
